Diploma in Accountancy



The Diploma in Accountancy (KNEC) course is intended to provide trainees with sufficient knowledge and skill to perform competently and with minor supervision, the accounting functions in an organization. It encompasses both theoretical and professional aspects of accounting as a discipline and as a profession. The course is intended to give the trainee an all-round view of accounting by exposing them to appropriate subjects. The graduate is envisaged to play a critical role in promoting transparency and accountability among institutions as well as promoting enterprise success through proper accounting records and informed decisions

This is an entry level program that is designed to introduce the student to accounting while equipping the student with practical skills that can be applied in the business world at an entry level.

Course Requirements

The following requirements must be met for a student to qualify for KNEC exams in this course:

  • Must sit for at least 2 cats marked out of 30% ,and an end term exams marked out of 70% each term.
  • The candidate will be expected to proceed for industrial attachment as a requirement by KNEC for successful completion of the course.
  • A student must attend at least 80% of all the tutorial lectures.
